Title: Assistant Professor
Department: Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences

Dr. Casey Cazer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Population Medicine & Diagnostic Sciences at Cornell University. Like many veterinarians, she connected with the veterinary profession as a child because of her love of animals. Her interests expanded as an undergraduate at Harvard University and during her veterinary training at Cornell University to include biomedical research and comparative medicine. Dr. Cazer received her DVM in 2016 and completed a PhD in population medicine and epidemiology in 2020 at Cornell University. Her research interests are broadly in the epidemiology of zoonotic diseases, evidence-based medicine, and One-Health. Currently, she is developing methods to improve antimicrobial resistance surveillance, particularly with local clinical datasets, which can enable clinicians and epidemiologists to track resistance in populations and intervene with appropriate antimicrobial stewardship policies. Dr. Cazer also enjoys teaching veterinary students about preventive care as an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Small Animal Community Practice at Cornell University’s Hospital for Animals. Dr. Cazer joined the PACE program in Fall 2020 and is looking forward to participating in mentoring meetings and grant writing workshops.
