Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
PACE Statement on Anti-Racism
The Program for Achieving Career Excellence (PACE) recognizes the centuries of racism and generational oppression that black and brown people have endured, and how this has led to their underrepresentation in general, and specifically in biomedical research.
PACE promotes diversity, inclusion and equity, specifically for early career faculty and underrepresented minorities whose research relates to the NIH/NIAID mission, through networking, professional development and mentoring programs. PACE participants are provided the opportunity to become Visiting Scholars whereby they can partner with and travel to labs outside of Cornell University and learn techniques that will enhance their research.
The PACE Rising Star program was created specifically to diversify faculty and promote underrepresented minorities’ success in biomedical research through early recruitment initiatives, tailored mentoring and the opportunities to give a scientific seminar, chalk talk and network with faculty. Rising Stars are provided early alerts of upcoming jobs and the opportunities to learn how to prepare successful job applications and interviews.
Please share information about PACE with your colleagues, as well as your feedback on how to make PACE more accessible and successful for early career faculty and underrepresented minorities.
