Field Day! August 9, 2022

A field of delicata squash growing in straight rows. On the left the rows are on bare soil, center rows are straw mulched, and right rows are plastic mulched.Tuesday, August 9th from 2-4pm, rain or shine!!

Come join us at Cornell AgriTech’s Gates West farm, to learn about two exciting experiments:

  • Full-season row cover (mesotunnels) for pest and disease exclusion
  • Comparison of mulches, cultivation, and rolled cover crops on weeds, pests, diseases, and yield

“We did this last year too, and had some stark differences in outcomes between the different approaches. It’s basically comparing hoeing and three different types of mulches – plastic, straw, or rolled cover crop.
