Frank and Marion Dumond and McConkey Fellowship

Frank and Marion DuMond Fellowship and McConkey Fellowship

Criteria: All graduate degree candidates in the Field of Natural Resources who are conducting research related to forestry or forest science are eligible for these awards. These fellowships can be used to support either incoming or current graduate students conducting research related to forestry.

Amount and use of funds: Funds from these Fellowships come from endowment income, so the amount each year fluctuates. The majority of the awards will be designated for summer support.

Application process: Faculty advisors proposing a prospective or current graduate student should provide the following materials to the Graduate Field Assistant no later than March 31st for summer funding:

1) The student’s CV;
2) A brief description of the student’s research interests related to forestry or forest science;
3) Available or prospective funding support for this student;
4) A letter of nomination from the student’s faculty advisor.

Selection process: The Director of Graduate Studies will appoint an ad hoc committee including faculty with expertise in forestry. Applications will be reviewed by the committee and they will submit a recommendation for the award to the Director of Graduate Studies.
Reporting requirements: As part of the Fellowship, we ask that a short thank you note is written with information about what the student will be doing for research. Contact information for thank you notes will be provided when awarded.
