Drop/Change Grade Option/Credit Revisions – Deadline Procedures for Spring 2015

A reminder for all Engineering students, the procedure for you to drop with a W or change a grade option this semester is as follows:

  • Until Friday, March 13th – Drop courses or change grade options electronically as usual through your Student Center account.
  • Monday, March 16th – Wednesday, March 18th (4:00 p.m.) – Go to the Registrar’s Office (158 Olin Hall) to fill out an add/drop form. One of the Registrar staff members will then immediately make the appropriate changes to your course schedule.
  • No grade option changes will be permitted after Wednesday, March 18th (4:00 p.m.).

***Requests for Extensions to drop*** (will be considered on an individual basis) We are aware that there are prelims during the week of March 16th which may influence your decision to drop a course. Please check your prelim schedule now http://registrar.sas.cornell.edu/Sched/PRELS.html

If you feel you need additional time to make a decision to drop a class, you must stop by or call Engineering Advising (emails will not be accepted) as soon as possible and NO LATER THAN 4:00p.m. on Wednesday, March 18th to request an extension. If granted, the extension deadline to drop without a W will be 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25th. *Note: an add/drop form and petition will be required for those to whom an extension is granted.

Deadline Friday, March 14 @4:00pm – Drop a course without a “W” (withdrawal), and absolute last day to change Grading Option (Letter to S/U or S/U to Letter)

This is a reminder that THIS FRIDAY, March 14th (4:00 PM), is the Last Day to DROP a COURSE without a “W” appearing on your transcript and without having to petition.  Until this time, you may drop a course electronically using Student Center, and the course will be removed from your record with no evidence of your having been enrolled.  If you wish to drop a class after March 14th (but before the final withdrawal deadline of April 25th), it will be necessary to complete an add/drop form and petition and submit them to the Engineering Registrar’s office (In this case, a “W” will appear on your record.)

Friday, March 14th (4:00 PM) is also the ABSOLUTE Last Day to CHANGE a course GRADE OPTION (petitions to change a grade option will not be accepted after March 14th).

Please Note: We are aware that there are prelims during this week and next which may influence your decision to drop a course.  If you feel you need additional time to make a decision, please contact Engineering Advising by phone (emails will not be accepted) at 607-255-7414 or by stopping by the office in 167 Olin Hall, NO LATER THAN 4:00 PM this Friday, March 14th.  Extensions to drop a class may be granted (until March 21st), based on individual circumstances.  (Note that an add/drop form and petition will be required for those to whom an extension is granted.)
