Tesla safety and restraints team is looking for a mechanical engineering intern for 2024 Spring. You will be working with the safety and restraints teams to support the design and implementation of passive safety systems in new vehicles. Detailed job descriptions can be found here. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Mechanical design and optimization of pedestrian and occupant restraint systems.
  2. Determine locations and mounting arrangements of transducers and ECUs.
  3. assist to develop structures with the CAE group to ensure desired system performance.
    4. assist the development of restraint systems including determination of deployment timing and coordination to minimize injury and ensure legal compliance.
  4. Assist with development and maintenance of a database using Python, MYSQL and Matlab
  5. assist in the development of tools to quantify injury assessment in the field
    7. provide processed data / information to other groups with the purpose of improving impact safety
    8. Assist in the coordination and execution of full vehicle crash testing and sub-system testing

Qualifications:
1. Major in Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related fields
2. Preferred database knowledge
3. Preferred experience with Python 3+
4. Understanding the basics of Statistics and Data Science
5.  Ability to follow oral, written, email, and text message instructions
6. Work in a team-based environment to achieve common goals
7. Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines
