Last Day to Drop a Course Without a ‘W’ for Fall Semester
Wednesday, October 28th is the last day to drop a course without a ‘W’ appearing on your transcript and without a petition. You will be able to drop a course via Student Center through the 28th. Extensions will not be given to this deadline.
- You should speak with your professors and TAs to get a good sense of where you stand in your classes and gather information to make an assessment of whether to drop now or continue;
- Please connect with your faculty advisor, Engineering Advising, or your major department coordinator to discuss your intent to drop a course and outline a recovery plan for next semester;
- You are still allowed to drop a course after the 28th, via petition, up through the December 4th final drop deadline. After the 28th, you earn a ‘W’ for the course on your record.
Absolute Last Day to Change a Grade Option (from S/U to letter, or letter to S/U)
Wednesday, October 28th is also the last day to change grade options for a course.
- Please note, the only requirements in the Engineering common core that are allowed to count as S/U are liberal studies and advisor-approved electives. Many major departments also do not allow their major courses to be taken as S/U and count toward the degree, unless explicitly permitted by the Major. Please refer to the appropriate Major department for more information.
