MAE Project Course with ExxonMobil

Help ExxonMobil find ways to solve one of the longest duration and most complex activities in the construction and installation of piping for new facilities. This is the second part of this project and will involve looking for new techniques and reviewing existing proposals. This is an open-ended design problem that may be solvable by robotics welding or other novel pipe joining techniques. Key criteria are: safely contain the fluids under operating and upset conditions, be versatile in its technology to adjust to the materials, dimensions and final installation location, and be schedule and cost-efficient relative to welding pipe and qualified welding labor. Students can enroll to work on this project for 1-4 credits. Please email mu25@cornell.edu if interested!
