Undergraduate and Graduate Opportunities

Undergraduate Minor

Undergraduate students in any college at Cornell may minor in LGBT Studies in conjunction with a major defined elsewhere in the university. The minor attracts students from a variety of disciplines including, but not limited to: English, Performing and Media Arts, Biological Sciences, and Anthropology.

The undergraduate minor consists of four courses chosen from the links below. Course offerings change annually, so students must consult the list of offerings each year to see whether a specific course will count toward the minor. Students may petition the Director of LGBT Studies for courses not listed.

Graduate Minor

The LGBT Studies graduate minor attracts students from humanities fields such as English, Romance Studies and Theatre Arts, to name a few.

In order to pursue a graduate minor in LGBT Studies, a student must currently be associated with a degree program in the Cornell Graduate School and choose a faculty member from the LGBT Studies Graduate Field to be on their special committee. In keeping with the aim of flexibility in graduate degree programs, the minor in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Studies is developed by the student in consultation with their LGBT Studies graduate field member.  There are no required courses for the LGBT Studies graduate minor, progress in and completion of the minor is the sole responsibility of the student and their committee member.
