Instagram has changed the way in which dating and new relationships are being formed. It is no longer common for someone to meet someone else for the first time in person and have a face to face conversation, but that your first interaction with someone is over an app. The original form of Instagram was a platform to share pictures with others and update friends or followers on different events or things going on in your life, but recently Instagram has been shifted almost to a dating app where you can constantly see new and different individuals.
Instagram itself directly relates to the course of Networks with the way in which it can connect one individual to another. Instagram has conducted a way to suggest certain friends in which you have the opportunity to follow just by basing it off the individuals in which you are already following and the mutual followers in which you possess. With that being said Instagram also provides you with the opportunity to directly message someone providing availability to someone without even knowing them. In today’s world many relationships now are formed simply by two people following one another and one person reaching out through a direct message. This access expands the range in which an individual can reach someone they may have never came in interaction with. Instagram now in many ways is not only a social media platform but it has almost converted into a dating app where individuals can school through an explore page looking at different individuals who may fit as their preference and now have the ability to directly get into contact with them without ever having a face to face interaction. It is interesting to see how the development of an app can influence an entire dating scene. There will likely never again be an emergence of face to face encounters leading to relationships.
