Canadiana Discovery Portal

Candiana.org makes available a free resource that could be of use to Cornell historians.  The Canadiana Discover Portal is a free service that enables users to search across the digital collections of Canada’s libraries, museums, and archives.   The Portal advertizes itself as “the best single source for Canada’s documentary heritage for researchers, students, and the general public.” In October 2010, it surpassed the 60 million-page mark.  It provides access to a wealth of digital material including books digitized at the University of Toronto, journals, newspapers, government documents, photographs, maps, post cards, sheet music, audio and video files.

A search for “Cornell University” in the database proves that its scope extends beyond Canada’s borders.  There are 271 results listed, though some of the references are to notes, publisher, etc.
