    Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology (#FS 8024)
    Start Date: January 14, 2016

    Visiting position for a broadly-trained human anatomist and physiologist to join a vigorous faculty committed to excellence in undergraduate education. Responsibilities will include teaching lower-division lecture and laboratory courses in human anatomy and human anatomy & physiology during the Spring 2016 semester.

    Candidates should demonstrate that they possess a commitment to student-centered instruction. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse faculty, staff, and students within the Biology and Earth Science department and across campus.

    Qualifications:
    -Masters degree in Biology with a background in human anatomy and physiology, Ph.D. preferred; M.D. and A.B.D. considered with relevant teaching experience
    -Genuine commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level
    -Commitment to undergraduate laboratory instruction
    -Excellent communication skills
    -Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other faculty and staff

    Preference will be given to applicants who possess/demonstrate:
    -Experience teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology at the undergraduate level
    -Proficiency with instructional anatomy/physiology software such as A.D.A.M. and data collection software such as BioPac
    -Experience with dissection of vertebrate animals and major organs
    -Experience with using a variety of delivery methods for teaching

Candidates should address how they would work in a multi-cultural classroom and university setting and contribute to the mission and vision of ASU.     Assistant Professor of Biology – Tenure Track

    Tenure-track position for a broadly-trained human anatomist and physiologist to join a vigorous faculty committed to excellence in undergraduate education. Responsibilities include teaching lower-division lecture and laboratory courses in human anatomy, human physiology, and non-majors microbiology. In addition, the individual will share departmental responsibilities with five other full-time Biology faculty, advise students, and serve on campus committees. Teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester with the opportunity for research involving undergraduate students.

    Candidates should demonstrate that they possess (1) a commitment to student-centered instruction, mentoring and advising (2) a commitment to furthering the universitys mission of Inclusive Excellence, (3) the potential to maintain a pattern of scholarly activity that is commensurate with level of experience. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse faculty, staff, and students within the Biology and Earth Science department and across campus. A mentoring program, professional travel opportunities, and summer teaching stipends are available for faculty.

    Qualifications:
    – Doctoral degree in Biology with a background in human anatomy and physiology, ABD considered; MD considered with undergraduate teaching experience
    – Demonstrated commitment to achieving excellence in teaching and advising undergraduates
    – Commitment to undergraduate laboratory instruction and research
    – Evidence of scholarly activity and potential for continued scholarly growth
    – Evidence of valuing equity, treating cultural diversity as assets, and promoting inclusiveness

    Preference will be given to applicants who possess/demonstrate:
    – Experience teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology, or Microbiology at the undergraduate level
    – Proficiency with instructional anatomy/physiology software such as A.D.A.M. and data collection software such as BioPac
    – Experience with using a variety of delivery methods for teaching
    – Commitment to outreach to the K12 community

    Candidates should submit a cover letter that specifically describes their qualifications with reference to the above criteria and provide examples. Candidates should address how they would work in a multi-cultural classroom and university setting and contribute to the mission and vision of ASU. In addition, applications must include the following:
