We are pleased to post the first iteration of the 2024 Finger Lakes Grape Price Listing. We are still trying to get a few more lists from some past participants, and will post updated versions as we do. Because we are missing some lists that were included in 2023, there are a number of prices that are based on a different number of buyers we have listed for that variety, which can our average prices appear significantly higher or lower than they might actually be when we have all of the lists included. These situations are highlighted in blue in the right-most column. This may also mean that an average price that is one color right now (red, yellow or green) may change to a different one when we get more prices for that variety. For example, Riesling had an average price of $1,756/ton based on prices from 9 buyers. This year’s price is $1,671/ton, about 5% lower than last year, but this average is only based on prices from 7 buyers. If we get two more prices for Riesling which are higher than $1,671, the average will get closer to last year’s price. Clear as mud? Feel free to get in touch with me if it isn’t. Again, we will update these as we (hopefully) get a few more price lists.
