The courses that fall under the Stage 2 Design Team include Block V, parts of Block VII, and the 2nd and 3rd year distribution periods.

Our goal is to broadly engage faculty to design the high-level curricular structure and content for Stage 2 of the curriculum, including:

• instructional progression and format
• a blueprint for defining and coordinating instructional content
• an assessment program that ensures students are ready to advance from one stage to the next
• remediation programs for students who do not meet the requirements to advance to the subsequent stage

Key themes we are using to guide current projects include: 

• utilizing case-based and presentation-based learning activities to better prepare students for clinical rotations
• providing opportunities for students to learn in the clinical environment to ease the transition to the clinical year
• integrating clinical and professional competency training to maximize relevance and contextualized learning
