Teaching

Here I am waiting to lecture. I’m the second lecturer of the day for this particular class. I wish I could adequately describe the intensity of the experience just as I’m about to lecture to a large group.

It’s simultaneously nerve-wracking, exciting and worrying.

Will I be able to capture the attention of the students adequately?

Will I take what they do know and build on that to a new height?

Can I pitch the learning objectives just right for the students to grasp onto and master?

What is the important essence of what I want to convey?

Will the students hear and understand the lecture clearly?

The students pay so much in tuition, I’ve heard it quoted that they pay more for each lecture than they would if they had a front seat at the Met. I always worry tremendously about doing everything possible on my part to make sure they have the very best education.
