Welcome to 2013!
The CIPA offices were closed from December 24 to January 2, as was the rest of Cornell University. But we’re open for business again and are very busy processing the MANY admissions applications that arrived during our short hiatus. If yours is among this stack, please be patient with us as we work our way through these applications. We want to make sure we evaluate each one thoroughly and carefully.
Now that the new year is upon us (how did THAT happen so quickly?!), fall semester of 2013 doesn’t seem so far away. As you contemplate your options for graduate school, you might consider making some campus visits. You can learn a lot about a program online, but there’s really no substitute for visiting a place in person. Interested in visiting CIPA? You have several options.
Open House: April 5
First, you are invited to attend our spring Open House, which is scheduled for Friday, April 5th. Historically, we have about 25 applicants at this event, many of whom end up attending the program in the fall. You will have the opportunity to meet faculty and staff, learn more about the program, and explore housing options in the area. If you wish, you can stay with one of our current Fellows during your one to two-night visit. To sign up for the Open House or to get additional information, please click here. This year, CIPA and Syracuse’s Maxwell School are co-hosting a conference here on the Ithaca campus that weekend titled “Making Markets Work for the Poor.” You are more than welcome to stay on and attend—just click here for more information. The Maxwell School is having their Open House on the following Monday, April 8, so if you’re looking at both schools, it makes sense to stay the weekend and visit both. More information about these events will be forthcoming.
Individual Visit Day
If our spring Open House date doesn’t work for you, we would be happy to arrange an individual visit day that better suits your schedule. Click here to fill out a visit day request form to let us know possible dates. We will arrange for you to sit in on a class, meet faculty and staff, and have lunch with some of our current Fellows.
