Financing Your Graduate Education

We understand that the cost of attending graduate school is a main consideration when selecting what graduate program best fits your needs.  Although CIPA is unable to provide anyone with full financial support, we do provide some funding to more than 80 percent of our Fellows. In most cases, we notify candidates of their CIPA fellowship award at the same time that we make our offer of admission to the program.  CIPA fellowships are awarded based upon merit and range from $5,000-$32,000 per academic year.  If you would like to be considered for a fellowship,  you just need to check the box that asks if you want to be considered for fellowships when completing the online admission application.

In addition to the CIPA Fellowships, many of our domestic Fellows supplement their fellowship with federal student loans.  Graduate students are eligible to borrow up to $20,500 per academic year.  For additional information about federal and private loans, please follow this link.

The estimated cost of attendance for students attending the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs is listed below. The budget provides you with information about costs associated with attending the program and serves as the basis for determining federal financial aid awards. The figures listed are estimates of the costs for Academic Year 2012-13. We anticipate that these figures will increase three to five percent each year.  Individual students may find that their costs vary from the estimated budget depending on their living situation and existing personal expenses.  The estimates are used for federal financial aid calculation purposes. International students may use these figures as a guideline for creating personal budgets.
