Week 7: Farm Tours and Discussion with the CCE Director

To start off the week, I continued work on both my projects.  As we continue our work, I am still encountering the struggle of data collection in a timely manner.  This has been a limiting factor throughout the project but I am still able to make progress.  On the other hand, I have been working to determine what parameters we want to view when we have results from the projects.  This is an important decision as we want to be able to tell the correct story with our research.

Also this week,  we toured three different dairies.  This is always an educational experience when we are able to tour a dairy, as each of them are so unique.  It is also great to tour dairies that we work with to gain a further understanding of their operations.  Below are images from the dairies.

Finally this week, the team had a presentation/discussion with Chris Watkins, the director of Cornell Cooperative Extension.   Here we were encouraged to ask Chris questions on his role in CCE and how he manages a vast majority of the teams.  Chris’s discussion was great (as I am also the CCE intern) to gain understanding of how CCE operates in New York State!
