Week 5: July 5th to July 8th

Our CHAT Training week got off to a bit of a chaotic start but overall was a success! On the first day we got to meet Melody and Chance, the Choose Health Action Teens assigned to PAL Polo Grounds. The two of them dove right in with the lessons and have such great energy; I am excited for how their lessons will go. While Sashana and I only ended up with one CHAT who arrived on the second day of training, we did not let this set us back. When we met Henry we hit the ground running getting him caught up to speed and after he completed his first teachback I could tell that our students would really like him.

Chance discusses why lowfat milk is a “Go!” drink during he and Melody’s teachback of CHFFF Lesson 1.

Overall this week was a great reminder that you can’t always plan for everything but you can control how you respond to situations that you were not expecting; I think our CHFFF team did a great job responding to the obstacles of having less time than planned to train the CHATs and also having to shift our lesson delivery strategy since PAL Harlem only has one CHAT to work with instead of two. I am really looking forward to seeing how our first week of CHFFF lessons goes!
