Sixth Week

The Cultivating Community summer employment program began this week. I helped with the initial day by making introductions, leading ice breakers and helping out in the activities. It was a great first week, the youth started shy and reserved but by the end they were more comfortable and familiar to each other. One of the fun activities of the week was planting microgreens. We also painted some kindness rocks to spread around the neighborhood and had a cooking class that the youth were really engaged in. It was a great first week of the program and we are very excited about the next few weeks.

I also had a meeting with the housing department in Cornell University and planned out a contract to stay in the dorms for the Cornell trip. At the same time I was sending out and receiving health and permission forms for the trip. Finally creating a more concrete plan of what the trip will look like.
