Week 6

This week I visited Pink Houses again to set and collect the second round of insect traps. The crops looked a lot larger than the last time, and some of them are even starting to cover some of the traps slightly, so I may have to move some of the locations for next time.

On Friday, Jody, an entomologist, joined us to help with insect ID. I learned a lot from her about how to distinguish different insects I previously had trouble identifying, such as hover flies vs robber flies and hover flies vs wasps. I also noticed that we found some insects that we had not found the last sampling date, like spiders and robber flies. Here is a robber fly we found:
