Introductions: Adi Robertson

It looks like Audrey’s already done this, but as the second CAPS blog admin, I’d better start explaining what I’m doing here. I’m a rising senior and a CAPS lifer, declared since freshman year. My specialty, insofar as I have one, is Internet culture and policy, which means that, for me, looking up photoshop parodies of the Green Dam software project is called research, not procrastination. I’m planning to intern this fall at the US Information Technology Office, a technology policy center located in Beijing’s Chaoyang district.

I just spent the summer on a State Department Critical Language Scholarship in Harbin, China, which gave me the opportunity to travel not only Harbin and Heilongjiang, but also Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Liaoning, and Beijing. I’m looking forward to traveling more over breaks this semester, between thesis research and theoretical post-graduation job-hunting.

Meanwhile, I spend my time looking at bulletin boards and watching high-concept science fiction melodramas from the WuMei convenience store.
