President

The class president is the chief executive officer who provides overall leadership, oversees fiscal activities, Reunion plans, and develops strategies for strengthening the class. The president communicates regularly with all class officers to ensure that they are fulfilling the duties of their office. The president communicates with class officers with at least 1 annual class communication if not more (refer to class constitution for specifics). They can send emails, letters, newsletters, blogs, or hold conference calls. These updates ensure that the officers are aware of the class’s priorities. While another class officer may serve as the primary contact for the membership program, the president must stay informed about the class’s membership efforts and progress. The president will want to work with the website community manager to routinely monitor the class website to make sure the information is updated and accurate. They will want to share information on all class social media sites so that it reaches as many classmates as possible.

The class president should monitor class statistics including dues-payer numbers, attendees at Reunion and regional events, and class fundraising results (dollars and donors). The president should communicate with a designated CACO Board liaison regarding the status of the class, and they are responsible for seeking help if the class is experiencing challenges. It is also important for the class president to ensure that successful class officer efforts are acknowledged and publicized as best practices within the officer group and among other volunteer leaders, so that other groups may benefit from this information.
