Internship Guidelines

In order to maximize the benefit you will receive from your Washington experience as a whole, Cornell in Washington has adopted the following guidelines for internships:

  • 3 days a week, Monday-Wednesday, is recommended, to allow time for academic work, for touring Washington, and for the occasional trip to Ithaca or home.
  • No academic credit is earned for the internship, either from Cornell in Washington or any other department.
  • Internships can be either paid or unpaid, though Cornell in Washington discourages taking paid internships as the pay may affect the academic value of the internship
  • Internships should begin within one week of the start of classes, and should end during the last week of classes.
