Strawberries: June yellows

June yellows is a genetic disorder that affects certain varieties in early spring. Affected plants produce normal green leaves during early and mid-summer. Later in the season, the diseased variety will develop yellow leaves.

Symptoms may become apparent again in late summer to early fall as growth slows.

Symptoms become progressively worse from year to year; severely affected plants may die. There is no treatment for this disorder. Purchasing certified plants from a reputable nursery can help reduce the likelihood of problems with June yellows.
