Cattle auction report. Cambridge Valley Livestock, July 16, 2024

Compared to last sale slaughter cattle sold 5.00-8.00 higher. Feeder dairy calves sold steady. In addition to slaughter cattle and feeder dairy calves, 8 dairy cows and 27 goats were sold. Supply included: 8% Feeder Cattle (69% Steers, 4% Heifers, 7% Bulls, 20% Dairy Heifers); 29% Slaughter Cattle (2% Steers, 1% Dairy Steers, 2% Heifers, 2% Cows, 5% Bulls, 7% Dairy Heifers, 3% Dairy/Beef Steers, 74% Dairy Cows, 5% Dairy Bulls); 63% Feeder Dairy Calves (90% Bulls, 10% Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 43%.

Compared to the last sale 500-600 lb feeder steers stayed steady to firm. 600-700 lb feeder steers traded 10.00 to 12.50 higher. 400-500 lb feeder heifers traded 25.00 to 35.00 higher. 500-600 lb feeder heifers traded 5.00 to 20.00 higher. Supply included: 88% Feeder Cattle (54% Steers, 7% Dairy Steers, 29% Heifers, 5% Bulls, 2% Dairy/Beef Steers, 3% Dairy/Beef Heifers); 12% Replacement Cattle (21% Stock Cows, 24% Bred Cows, 21% Bred Heifers, 21% Cow-Calf Pairs, 14% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 55%.

Supply included: 2% Feeder Cattle (13% Steers, 4% Dairy Steers, 63% Heifers, 13% Bulls, 8% Dairy Heifers); 33% Slaughter Cattle (1% Dairy Steers, 3% Heifers, 5% Cows, 5% Bulls, 5% Dairy Heifers, 81% Dairy Cows, 1% Dairy Bulls); 64% Feeder Dairy Calves (80% Bulls, 20% Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 45%.

Supply included: 61% Feeder Cattle (27% Steers, 39% Heifers, 34% Bulls); 39% Replacement Cattle (9% Stock Cows, 33% Bred Cows, 4% Bred Heifers, 9% Cow-Calf Pairs, 46% Bulls).
