Weekly Auction Report. Cambridge Valley Livestock, May 7, 2024.

Compared to last sale slaughter dairy cows sold lower on a light test. Feeder dairy and crossbred bull calves sold strong. Feeder dairy and crossbred heifer calves sold strong. Supply included: 5% Feeder Cattle (10% Steers, 5% Dairy Steers, 55% Heifers, 15% Bulls, 5% Dairy Heifers, 5% Dairy/Beef Steers, 5% Dairy/Beef Heifers); 25% Slaughter Cattle (4% Steers, 6% Heifers, 18% Cows, 1% Bulls, 11% Dairy Heifers, 57% Dairy Cows, 2% Dairy Bulls); 70% Feeder Dairy Calves (80% Bulls, 20% Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 15%.

Feeder and Replacement Auction Results. Canandaigua Stockyards, May 4, 2024.

Compared to last month’s sale 400-500lb feeder steers stayed steady to firm. 500-600lb feeder steers traded 9.00 to 25.00 lower. 400-500lb feeder heifers traded 20.00 to 22.50 higher. 500-600lb feeder heifers stayed steady to firm. Supply included: 95% Feeder Cattle (44% Steers, 4% Dairy Steers, 37% Heifers, 15% Bulls); 5% Replacement Cattle (14% Stock Cows, 21% Bred Cows, 39% Cow-Calf Pairs, 25% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 37%.

Compared to last week’s sale slaughter cows traded 3.00 to 4.00 higher. Holstein bull calves stayed steady to firm. Beef cross bull calves traded 20.00 to 70.00 higher. Supply included: 42% Slaughter Cattle (7% Dairy Steers, 5% Cows, 5% Bulls, 4% Dairy Heifers, 78% Dairy Cows); 58% Feeder Dairy Calves (79% Bulls, 21% Heifers).

Supply included: 79% Slaughter Cattle (14% Steers, 4% Dairy Steers, 9% Heifers, 7% Cows, 4% Bulls, 12% Dairy Heifers, 7% Dairy/Beef Steers, 42% Dairy Cows, 1% Dairy Bulls); 21% Feeder Dairy Calves (83% Bulls, 17% Heifers).

Compared to last month’s sale 500-600lb feeder steers traded 12.00 higher. 600-700lb feeder steers traded 5.00 to 18.00 higher. 500-600lb feeder heifers traded 30.00 to 35.00 higher. 600-700lb feeder heifers traded 10.00 higher. Supply included: 91% Feeder Cattle (44% Steers, 3% Dairy Steers, 40% Heifers, 14% Bulls); 9% Replacement Cattle (18% Stock Cows, 57% Bred Cows, 11% Bred Heifers, 5% Cow-Calf Pairs, 9% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 43%.

Compared to last month’s sale 500-600lb feeder heifers stayed steady to firm. 600-700lb feeder heifers traded 15.00 to 22.00 higher. 500- 600lb feeder steers traded 17.50 to 30.00 higher. 600-700lb feeder steers traded 33.00 to 40.00 higher. Supply included: 95% Feeder Cattle (32% Steers, 1% Dairy Steers, 51% Heifers, 15% Bulls); 5% Replacement Cattle (18% Stock Cows, 53% Bred Cows, 3% Bred Heifers, 12% Cow- Calf Pairs, 15% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 44%.

NY Board Sale. Empire Livestock, Bath. April 13, 2024.

Below are the prices for cattle sold at Empire Livestock, Bath on April 13. Known as a “Board Sale” these cattle remain on farm until picked up by the successful bidder. They were graded using USDA Feeder Calf Standards and sorted into similar weight groups. The weight spread in most lots is under 200 lb.

These producers are committed to providing yearlings that are vaccinated using modified live vaccines for IBR, BRSV, PI3, BVD, and clostridia, pasteurella, and de-wormed.

Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (32% Steers, 68% Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 46%.

Supply included: 41% Slaughter Cattle (2% Steers, 3% Heifers, 10% Cows, 2% Bulls, 7% Dairy Heifers, 2% Dairy/Beef Steers, 1% Dairy/Beef Heifers, 73% Dairy Cows, 1% Dairy Bulls); 54% Feeder Dairy Calves (87% Bulls, 13% Heifers).
