Daniel Barbash, Professor
barbash@cornell.edu
Dan graduated from MIT with a BS in Biology and from UC Berkeley with a PhD in Genetics. Dan is a Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. He is a member of the Graduate Fields of Biochemistry, Molecular & Cell Biology, and Genetics, Genomics & Development. His research interests include molecular and genome evolution, speciation, and transposable element regulation.

Shuqing Ji, Research Support Specialist
sj37@cornell.edu
Shuqing graduated from Northeast Normal University, China with a BS in Biology and from Glasgow University, Scotland with an MS in Molecular Biology and Genetics. She is interested in understanding questions in Genetics and Evolution of Drosophila, in particular, the experimental approaches to address these questions.

Iskander Said, Graduate Student
Field of Genetics, Genomics and Development
is372@cornell.edu
Is graduated with a B.S. in Molecular, Cell and Development Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.  He is interested in applying genomics and computational approaches to study selfish genetic systems, such as transposable elements and meiotic drive. (Co-advised with Andrew Clark).

Freddie Xu, Graduate Student
Field of Genetics, Genomics and Development
fmx2@cornell.edu
Freddie graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Evolutionary Biology (and also majored in Political Institutions). His current research interests focus on the evolution of sex determination systems as well as sex chromosome evolution through classical genetics and computational genomics approaches. (Co-advised with Andrew Clark).

Benjamin McCormick, Lab Technician
bm545@cornell.edu
Ben graduated from Reed College with a BS in Biology. He is interested in developing new experimental approaches to address fundamental evolutionary questions. He is especially interested in selfish genetic systems and the interplay between symbiosis and speciation in fungi.
