The images of disease and pest symptoms are taken in the research orchard at Cornell AgriTech, Geneva, New York (42º52’38”N, 77º03’08’’W), September to October 2020. No pesticides (i.e., insecticides, fungicides, and antibiotics) have been applied in this orchard since 2017. Note: Collection of images is ongoing and will include early-, mid-, and late-season, as well as additional apples.
It is important to note that the disease and pest susceptibility of any cultivar depends on several factors, particularly presence of a susceptible host, a virulent strain of pathogen, and suitable environmental conditions. Therefore, certain diseases and pests present in New York State might not be an issue in another growing region. Also, disease and pest pressure can differ in different years depending on weather conditions.
