Welcome

Over the growing season, apple orchards are under constant threat from a large number of fungal, and bacterial pathogens. The U.S. apple industry, annually worth $15 billion, experiences millions of dollars in annual losses due to ongoing disease management, crop loss, and multi-year impacts of loss of fruit-bearing trees.

Database of Apple Diseases is a comprehensive source of high-quality images of common symptoms critical for disease identification and susceptibility levels of apple varieties and common cultivars. In addition, it provides basic knowledge of the disease cycles and biology through disease factsheets and information on advanced disease diagnostic methods for appropriate and timely deployment of disease management programs. Currently, this information is fragmented and can be difficult to search. We hope that this database will not only benefit experienced growers, extension educators and crop consultants, but also small to medium sized or home growers, and for pure educational purposes.
