Adult Tractor Safety Program

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County is excited to offer a Tractor and Farm Safety Course on Friday, May 31st hosted by Hudson River Tractor in Schaghticoke (11853 New York 40 Schaghticoke, NY 12154). This program is geared for adult audiences.  Statistics show that farming and operating equipment is a hazardous and dangerous endeavor.  Help yourself reduce the risks of an accident and attend this informative evening session.  The program will begin at 5:30 P.M with a presentation from the New York Center of Agriculture Medicine and Health (NYCAMH) followed by an opportunity to be hands-on with some equipment. This program is perfect for farmers old and new as well as any adult who currently works with machinery on the job or in their backyard or plans to in the future. Don’t Get Ticked on the Farm

Avoiding Lyme and other tick-borne diseases requires avoiding a tick bite! Join NYS IPM’s Ken Wise and Joellen Lampman as they talk about the different ticks in our area, their biology, the diseases they carry, and how to protect yourself and your livestock from being bitten. Free tick removal kits will be offered to attendees willing to participate in a short survey. This 2 hour program will take place on Monday, June 3rd, starting at 6:00 P.M at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County’s Office (61 State St Troy, NY). There will be a $5 registration fee.
