Although the grazing season is winding down, it’s never too late to learn the how to gauge the amount of feed in your pasture! Part one of a three part series starts to explain how Sheffer’s Grassland Dairy is managing their pastures for productivity. The Sheffers measure available forage using a grazing stick initially, then as the season progresses they graduate to an educated eye. They always go back to the grazing stick for reference during the season and at the beginning of every year. Not sure what a grazing stick is or how to use it? Watch our videos!
