Abbie Tarbox, Rensselaer County Dairy Princess

My name is Abbie Tarbox. I am the 15 year old daughter of David and Jayne Tarbox. I have lived on a dairy farm my whole life and have been involved in the Rensselaer County Dairy Princess Program for 10 years. On April 6th I was crowned the 2014-2015 Rensselaer County Dairy Princess. At the banquet the other two candidates and I were interviewed, presented our prepared 3-5 minute speeches, and had to answer an impromptu question. I was crowned Rensselaer County Dairy Princess, Lexi Hoag was crowned 1st Alternate Rensselaer County Dairy Princess, and Tracy Anderson was crowned the 2nd Alternate Rensselaer County Dairy Princess.

The Rensselaer County Dairy Princess Program is made possible through the support of American Dairy Association and Dairy Council, the local planning and management organization funded by dairy farmer check off dollars. The Dairy Princess Program is a great program for girls who are interested in the dairy industry. Many people want to know more about the dairy industry and it is our duty to educate them on this topic. We attend events such as parades, fairs, and farmers’ markets to promote dairy and answer any questions consumers may have. I have had a lot of fun and met many people through this program and I am excited for my year as princess. We are going to have so much fun promoting dairy throughout Rensselaer County this year.
