Welcome

Welcome to the Act for Change Community & Facilitator’s Guide

Act for Change is a program developed by Malinda Ware and Melanie Forstrom for the purpose of empowering facilitators to engage teens in anti-racism work in an informal educational environment. Juan-Carlos Piñeiro and youth participants also helped to co-create the Facilitator’s Guide. This website is a community of educators, youth, and community members designed to facilitate implementing local programs based on the AFC curriculum and connecting with others in the community to help grow the impact this program can have.

This website consists of two components: the leadership guide wiki and a community blog to create space for connecting with other AfC’ers.

The Facilitator Guide is set up as a wiki (a website that allows users to collaboratively edit the content and structure) so that everyone can contribute their own unique perspective and allow the program to grow along with the public discourse on race. The goal is for facilitators to share their experiences and lessons learned while implementing the program to continuously improve the guide by allowing more voices and perspectives to help shape it. Additionally, there is a section for articles from the AfC team with updates, progress, and success stories, and a section with blog posts from the greater AfC community.

The Connect forum is a place to connect with other interested parties and help share resources to establish more instances of the AfC program.
