1 billion galleries, 1 day. Students of the art department have wizened up to the goals of their professors: to take advantage of the city overflowing with contemporary art….at every opportunity. Artist Jeff Gibson took his Art Theory class to the New Museum and a slew of individual shows on the Lower East Side last Friday, bombarding each quiet space with a group of wide-shouldered, backpack-donning adolescents. And the day was incredibly informative. Highlight: gallery director Hudson of Feature, Inc. gave us an intimate talk on the art world and its dealings as he explained his goals as a member of it—totally awesome.
