Finding a Gluten-Free Breakfast

On cold mornings, oatmeal is my go-to breakfast, and while oats don’t have wheat gluten, I don’t have certified gluten-free oatmeal on hand. (Cross contamination at cereal manufacturing plants is a serious concern.) Cold cereal? Definitely out!

I didn’t prepare very well for breakfast Day 1 of the 5 Days challenge, though I do know there are gluten-free cereals and oatmeals to be found. I can also swing by one of the cafes and grab a container of yogurt, or maybe a banana.

What’s in my refrigerator? Hummus! Middle eastern cultures have hummus for breakfast all the time, and Sabra’s web site confirms that their products are gluten free!

A handful of peanuts will make a nice supplement, since I’m not going to be able to put the hummus on a roll or a slice of bread. I do have a box of gluten-free crackers, but I’m saving those for this nice block of cheese…
