Day 4 – Gluten Free at The Straight

Day 4

We decided to do lunch at Willard Straight Hall yesterday.  We went in thinking that we were going to have a lack of options for gluten free food due to the fact that The Straight has mostly retail units.  Boy were we wrong!

I had an amazing omlett, yes for lunch, with bacon!!!  I did not know that the omlett came with toast; so you will have to ask for gluten free bread for your toast.  I also had a bowl from the fusion station with peanut noodles and lots of veggies and chicken.

Brandon and Marie had some delicious looking salads.  Brandon also got salmon cooked to order, as it was the special that day.

The staff at Willard Straight were more than happy to check if any of the indridents contained gluten.

Day 3 – Gluten Free at Risley

Day 3 was fantastic!

A group of us went to lunch at Risley, after hearing Chef Bradshaw talk about how many gluten free students go to Risley to eat.  We all voted on getting stir fry.  The wait was long for the stir fry station, but that’s because the students know where all the good eats are at!  I had rice noodles, pineapple, broccoli, spinach, chicken, and the gluten free sweet soy sauce.  It was worth the wait!  Every bite was just amazing 😀

The line started way -----------------------------------------> over here, but were close!

The line started way —————————> over here, but we’re close!

Chef Bradshaw also let us know that if you politely pop your head into the kitchen, they will plate your food in the back.  That was you are sure that all of the cookware and dishware have no cross contamination on them.  It was nice to know that the entire staff at Risley is always ready to go above and beyond for dietary restrictions.

Gluten Free – Day 1 & 2

Good Afternoon!

Yesterday, our gluten free team had a group lunch at North Star.  It was a big culture shock at first!  Thankfully North Star has a section designated for gluten free products that are avalible to the public.

On my first day of being gluten free … I had a salad! Okay, I know it is not the most exciting gluten free meal that you can think of.  But it was delicious!  To make lunch even better, North Star had gluten free FUDGE BROWNIES!!!!  You would have never known that they were gluten free.WP_20140303_12_36_32_Pro[1]

Today, we went to lunch at Synapsis Cafe.  They have the most amazing gluten free baked pasta.  I added grilled chicken, mushrooms, and gluten free marinara sauce.  The pasta, being gluten free, did have a more al dente texture.  Hey, I love al dente pasta!  And get this … they sell the gluten free FUDGE BROWNIES too!

So far this whole gluten free diet is going great, but with all these brownies I’m going to have to watch my waistline!
