Tomorrow is the first day of spring! Take advantage of the warmer weather and get outside!
As you start to make your summer plans, there are so many outside activities to take advantage of here in the Hudson Valley and throughout New York State. One thing to consider is visiting a National Park.
Although there are National Monuments, National Scenic Trails and National Historic Sites here in New York, none of the 63 sites designated as National Parks are found here in New York. So visiting a National Park is a perfect opportunity to get away and experience nature at the same time!
Did you know that each and every 4th grade student in the United States has free access to National Parks across the county? This pass includes National Parks as well as National Monuments, Preserves, Recreation Areas, Scenic Trails, etc. And as many 4th graders missed out on that opportunity last school year, this year all 5th graders are also eligible! Every Kid Outdoors is a federal public lands youth initiative to get all 4th graders and their families to experience the places that are home to our country’s natural treasures, rich history, and vibrant culture.
Your Every Kid Outdoors pass is good from September 1st through August 31st of your fourth grade school year and it provides free access to national parks across the county. If you visit a site with an entrance fee it admits all children under 16 and up to three adults for free!
