Location: Oil seeds

Origin: Originating in the Near East, it is also grown in India and Europe

Biophysical Requirements: Deep‐rooted annual adapted to semi‐arid and irrigated regions of the western half of the United States with at least 110 days frost‐free.

Food Uses: It is used for production of seeds which are about 32 to 40% edible oil and 18 to 24% protein.
