Location: Small grains

Origin: Near East

Biophysical Requirements: Long-day plants. Spring-seeded and adapted to cool climates, s grown mostly in the North
Central states in the U.S. Russia is the largest producer followed by Canada and the U.S.

Food Uses: Mostly used as livestock feed, and the dry stem/leaves as livestock bedding. A portion is processed into rolled oats and various breakfast foods.
