Location: Pulse crops

Origin: Indian subcontinent, where it is called Green Gram.

Biophysical Requirements: Warm-season crop requires 90‐120 days frost‐free.

Food Uses: Grown mainly for human food in the southern half of Asia and in Africa. In Asia, the grain is used in several desserts. Germinated seedlings are used as “bean sprouts” in oriental dishes.
