Andropogon scoparius
Poaceae (grass family)
Location: Forages
Description: An important warm-season grass of the native range areas of the Great Plains. It is an “indicator species,”,a species that indicates the trend and condition of the rangeland. Thus ranchers can use it to develop and adjust management plans. It is also native to the Northeast and has been used for conservation seedings in some areas. With careful management, it can be used for perennial, warm season pasture.
