Origin: Thought to have been introduced to America by the European colonists.
Biophysical Requirements: Similar to Kentucky Bluegrass, but it is better adapted to adverse conditions, especially drought. Also better adapted to acid soils of low fertility.
Uses: Forage. Widely naturalized and represents a common constituent of many unimproved ‘bluegrass pastures’ of the Northeast.
