Performance Opportunities

Each semester, there are a number of performance opportunities for students enrolled in the Cornell Voice Lessons Program. These opportunities have migrated online while in-person performances are restricted.

  • In fall 2020, we held a virtual recital featuring the music of Florence Price on December 13 and an open-choice repertoire recital on December 20.
  • In spring 2021, we held a recital of music by women composers on Monday, March 8, in honor of International Women’s Day, in addition to our end-of-semester recital on May 16. The March 8 recital was supported in part by the New York Humanities Corridor and presented in conjunction with the Eastman School of Music/University of Rochester’s virtual Analysis-a-thon, “Closing the Gender Gap II,” on March 5 at 4 PM. The program is available here.

Our weekly, program-wide studio class, Singers’ Forum, will take place on Fridays from 3-5 PM. If you are new to singing, or have never attended a studio class, you can think of Singers’ Forum a little like interactive office hours: a time for all of us to gather and engage as a group with any issue pertaining to singing–be that singing itself, or other musical, technical, linguistic, or performative matters. Everyone is welcome!

In future semesters, we look forward to collaborations with internationally-renowned soprano Dawn Upshaw, an A. D. White Professor-at-Large for the 2020-2026 term.
