Voice lesson auditions for Fall 2024 have passed. The schedule for auditions in Spring 25 will go up in January 2025.
Auditions for voice lessons occur the first week of each semester. To add your name to be contacted when the audition schedule becomes available a few weeks before the next semester, please fill out this form.
How it Works
The “audition” is an interview with Dr. Jean Bernard Cerin in which prospective will have the opportunity to sing 1 or 2 songs that reflect their musical interests. Students can sing with a backing track, a cappella, or they may bring sheet music.
Courses
MUSIC 3511 ½ credit; 30-minute lessons
MUSIC 3513 1 credit; 60 minutes
MUSIC 3514 2 credits; 60 minutes
MUSIC 4501 3 credits; 60 minutes (For Music Majors)
Cost
Voice lessons at Cornell cost $1232 for 1 hour (MUS 3513, 3514) and $616 for a half hour (MUS 3511)
Cornell students receiving need-based financial aid automatically receive a 20% discount which brings these fees down to $985.60 for the 1 hour lesson and $492.80 for the 1/2 hour lesson.
The Voice Program has a small scholarship fund to address additional needs that students can apply for at the time of the audition. Students in good standing in Cornell’s Chorus and Glee Club are additionally eligible to apply for scholarship funding. Further merit-based scholarships may be available; please reach out if you have questions.
*Students who have declared a music major are eligible to take voice lessons free of additional charge (MUS4501).
