Mentoring Philosophy:

For more information, you can contact me at jst37@cornell.edu.

I encourage graduate students to pursue topics of their own interest especially within the realm of how plant defenses influence species interactions and tri-trophic interactions. Students of various backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including those interested in using techniques from ecology, behavior, chemistry, plant pathology, entomology or other disciplines to address fundamental or applied questions in ecology.

Visit the Entomology website for more details on Cornell’s program.

The Thaler lab studies a diverse set of plant-insect interactions looking at many different species and levels of interactions. We welcome and value people from diverse backgrounds and experiences who bring their own unique perspectives to studying multi trophic interactions. We strive to make this lab space accessible, safe, inclusive and welcoming. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to my current and former students if you have questions about my lab or the program.

Check out the Thaler lab grad approach.
