From Teddy Salgado ’26, vice president of Hortus Forum, Cornell’s undergraduate horticulture club. (Salgado was also named 2025 Greenhouse Product News/Prospiant Intern of the Year. Congratulations Teddy!)
Hortus Forum just returned from our trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show this past weekend and I wanted to share our updates with you.
We entered 25 plants all of which received ribbons, including:
- 1 Rosette (The Doretta Klaber Memorial Award)
- 5 Class commendation ribbons
- 7 First-place ribbons
- 7 Second-place ribbons
- 7 Third-place ribbons
- 4 Honorary mentions
Our President, Emma Menard, is graduating this year and did a great job organizing this trip not just for the four Hortus Forum exhibitors, but also for the eight other club members who attended the show.
The Doretta Klaber Memorial Award was awarded by the North American Rock Garden Society for a succulent arrangement I designed during my freshman year. This is my last year and I was stoked to see an arrangement that I made my first year do so well.
While we were in the area, we took a side trip to tour Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.
As always, we are happy to represent SIPS and hope future generations of HoFo carry on this rich tradition.
