SIPS was well represented at the recently completed 2020 Northeastern Plant, Pest, and Soils Conference (NEPPSC) held January 6-9 in Philadelphia, PA.  The theme of the conference was Inclusion in Science.  A total of seven SIPS graduate students presented their research findings  at the conference including Kate Brown (Hort), Liang Cheng (Hort), Maria Gannett (Hort), Eugene Law (SCS), Uriel Menalled (SCS), Brandon Miller (Hort), and Chris Sitko (Hort).

Agricultural Sciences undergraduate, Matthew Spoth, also presented at the conference and received funding support from the ADAPT-N Travel Scholarship to attend the conference.  Eugene Law and co-authors (Kristine Averill and Toni DiTommaso) received second place honors in the graduate student poster contest for their poster titled:  Scientific Literacy in the Weed Science Classroom.

Also attending and presenting at the conference were Lynn Sosnoskie, Toni DiTommaso, Caroline Marschner, and Andy Senesac.

Participating societies in this conference were the: Northeastern Weed Science Society, Northeastern Branch of the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, & Soil Science Society of America, and the American Society of Horticultural Science – Northeastern Division.

Next year’s NEPPSC will be held in Gettysburg, PA in early January 2021 and we encourage an equally strong participation by SIPS graduate students and faculty.
