More than 80 seed professionals and Cornell community members gathered on June 26 for the 2025 Cornell Seed Grower’s Field Day.
The field day began with coffee and networking at the New York Seed Improvement Project (NYSIP) Foundation Seed Barn on Dryden Road in Ithaca and featured presentations by multiple faculty in the School of Integrative Plant Science.
Wagon tours of the surrounding research and demonstration plots included talks on small grain breeding by Mark Sorrells. Alejandro Calixto, gave a talk on how new regulations will shape field crop production in New York, and Virginia Moore introduced presentations from members of the Moore Lab on breeding of alfalfa, cover crops, vetch, and dry beans.
David Benscher, Julie Hansen, Margaret Smith, and Alan Taylor were recognized for their many years of contributions to Cornell’s extension mission and this annual field day.
The field day was organized by Alan Taylor, Margaret Smith, and Cornell AES.
