Welcome to new SIPS section head’s assistant Niaome Hickman-Kargoll

Niaome head shotSIPS leadership is pleased to welcome our newest team member Niaome Hickman-Kargoll. Niaome is filling the position of section head’s assistant for the Section of Horticulture and the Section of Plant Pathology and Plant-Microbe Biology, vacant since the departure of former SIPS staff member, Michele Blackmore. In this role Niaome will provide high level administrative support to the two section heads and assist with academic section processes.

Niaome earned her B.S. from Wells College in Environmental Science and Forest Ecology and has worked in natural resource management in California.  Since returning to the area she has worked at New Roots Charter School.  Niaome has some familiarity with Cornell, having worked long ago with greenhouse staff, and we are delighted she has decided to return to campus.  As a first-time outdoor gardener, she welcomes advice on being successful.

Niaome can be reached at neh64@cornell.edu and will sit in 233C Emerson Hall within the administrative suite where she is in close proximity to her supervisor, Cindy Twardokus, and the other SIPS section head’s assistants, Karin Jantz and Amy Collins. Be sure to drop by and say hello!
